THE LIONESSES
The English Lionesses are one of the favorites in this year’s World Cup. They have never been very well known when matters of women’s football are being mentioned. But after the focus the football association made on women’s super league there has been a tremendous improvement in women’s football in England.
The Lionesses will miss their captain Leah Williamson who played an integral part in qualification for the World Cup before injury ruled her out. Millie Bright is set to lead the team from the back to winning having deputized Leah Williamson as the captain.
Sarina Wiegman will depend on Manchester United player Mary Earps having been the best goalkeeper in the world to protect the goal. They will also depend on Lucy Bronze who has had experience across Europe and currently plays for Barcelona women’s side. On the attack, Bethany England and Ella Toone are expected to lead in search of goals.
The Lionesses won their first major trophy in 2022. They won 2-1 against Germany in the Women’s Euro 2022 with Kelly Chloe scoring the winning goal. This will act as a boost to the squad in the upcoming tournament. They finished 3rd in Canada after defeating Germany 1-0 that being their best-ever finish in the women’s World Cup.
THE STARS AND STRIPES, THE YANKS
United States are the most successful women’s team in the history of the women’s World Cup having won the event four times in the year 1991,1999, 2015, and recently 2019. They are a team to watch having a number of reputable players in the history of women’s football.
Meagan Rapinoe, United States has been very vocal in matters of equality and even at some point led other players in protesting for equality in her country. She is planning to play her last World Cup having featured four times in the World Cup tournament.
THE CANARHINAS
One cannot mention football without the name of Brazil being mentioned. Apparently, their women’s side has not been performing in international events as their male counterparts. The best they have ever reached in the Women’s World Cup is second in 2007 when they were defeated 2-0 in the final by Germany.

Marta (37 years) has been the icon whenever Brazil’s women’s team comes into everybody’s mind. She has been the FIFA Player of the Year a record number of times (6 times) but she is expected to grace the World Cup event for the last time having represented Brazil in the World Cup 5 times.
