The English Premier League assistant referee was captured by the cameras elbowing Liverpool’s Andy Robertson during a Premier League match against Arsenal at Anfield, a match that ended 2-2.
The FIFA-listed assistant referee will officiate a Championship game between Preston and Blackburn at Deepdale on Saturday, April 22nd, 2023. This is after the FA decided not to take any further action against the assistant referee.
Hatzidakis will further be the assistant VAR when Leeds United hosts Leicester City on Tuesday, April 25, thereafter.
Hatzidakis claimed to have apologized to Robertson via Zoom video after the incident, which infuriated many Liverpool supporters who wanted further action to be taken against the official.
Martin Cassidy, chief executive officer of Ref Support UK, told BBC Sport he believed Hatzidakis had been punished enough during a post-match analysis of the match.
Many expected the match official to be given a tougher punishment considering that Alexander Mitrovic, who shoved the referee, was given an 8-match ban for an offense almost identical to that of the said match official.
