“Have you ever wondered why as an African I can’t travel freely within my own continent, yet foreigners have unrestricted access more than I do?”
Oladele Donsunmu a pan Africanist questioned why Africans can’t travel freely in their own continent saying Africa’s development is based on the ability to trade within itself this can only be achieved by allowing unrestricted access to every part of the continent.
African Talents Are Going Where They Are Rewarded – Vusi Thembekwayo
“A sense of frustration knowing that the colonial tenterhooks are still holding us back, the quickest way to develop Africa is a free trade zone within Africa and unrestricted access to every part of the continent. Kind of weird knowing that we haven’t got that right within ourselves in 2023, I wonder why,” he wondered.
Oladele added that the enforced barriers need to come down and ensure completely free Africa, free to trade within, free to travel with no shackles, adding that the governments can decide to restrict the foreigners and definitely not Africans.
Africans Must Fight For Free Movement of People – John Kofi Annan
“They come to steal with ease. Yet we don’t blink an eyelid. What a paradox? We have a 1.3 billion population in Africa about the time we explore that option fully. Africa is what Africa needs, we have everything we need, and we have everything we want. Let’s look for solutions within,” he noted.
He advised that Africa should not buy products or services from outside, rather make them from within for self-consumption and then export to the whole world. The economy should be a seller oriented rather than buyer economy.
This, he says, will revolutionize jobs and capital circulation cum retention, warning that the countries should expect less or zero cooperation from the West for this strategic change and revolution. “Their Imperialist and discriminatory DNA will come in the way, even if Africa is open hearted.”
