Nigerian presidential candidate Peter Obi has responded to criticism over his poor performance as governor. He said God has allowed the current governor to succeed in the things he didn’t succeed in as a governor.
This was after Anambra Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s criticism, saying the investments Obi made for Anambra while he was governor are now “worth next to nothing”. The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) added that The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate does not have the necessary structure to win the presidency.
Speaking at an event hosted by Lagos Business School, Obi said that people should be aware that the investment he made on behalf of the state of Anambra, which Governor Soludo claimed was now worthless, is a part of a large global chain and that the company in which it was invested is still in operation. He also pointed out that investment value is rarely constant.
According to Obi, the professor currently in charge of Anambra state can build on what he has accomplished as a trader and improve the quality of life for the state’s citizens.
His supporters came to his defence, saying he is not perfect but can be emulated. He has no time to cast down his brother with outbursts, adding that they can’t wait for him to be the next Nigerian President.
“But why do people love this man, Peter Obi so much, yet so many politicians hate him? APC, PDP, NNPP, Atiku, Kwankwaso, Tinubu, Sowore, and Fr Mbaka, Obaseki, Talba Minna, Dino, Chris Ubah, Ned Nwoko, Reno Omokri, Gov Shettima , Gov Elrufai, Gandollar are all fighting him, yet he is moving,” Caseyyayo wondered.
“He speaks without saying foul of anyone. In all he still refers to Governor Soludo as his Brother and the Governor of his state, respectfully. I just want to emulate this man. His character speaks so much for him. He’s i not a regular politician. God bless us with Peter Obi as President,” Jay Jasper Jay wrote.
All eyes are on Nigerian presidential candidates as campaigns shift to a higher gear ahead of the 25 February 2023 presidential election.
