Johnson Sakaja may not fulfil his ambition to become the Nairobi Governor if fate things stand as they are. The Commission for University Education has revoked the recognition his degree from Team University in Uganda.
The Commission said it made the decision due to the various information questioning the authenticity of Sakaja’s degree.
“The Commission for University Education has received material information about the authenticity of the degree you presented from Team University that will require further investigation to ascertain the validity of the said the degree,” a letter from the commission indicated.
“Consequently, in accordance with the CUE’s recognition procedures, we hereby revoke the recognition of your degree – Bachelor of Science in Management (External) from the aforementioned university.”
The commission added that unless its investigations into the validity of Sakaja’s degree certificate show he legally and procedurally acquired the certificate, its decision on the revocation of the candidate’s certificate stands.
Several legislators from the UDA Party lamented the decision saying it may be instigated for political reasons.
“Don’t be cheated. Sakaja’s degree issue is a political witch-hunt by the deep state to deflate his momentum after they realized he will pulverize Igathe. Scorched earth policy. He will triumph,” Nairobi Woman Representative candidate Millicent Omanga wrote.
Kapseret MP candidate Oscar Sudi said, “Uhuru Kenyatta is pushing Johnson Sakaja to the wall. He personally made a call to someone in Uganda which I will soon disclose. Regardless of these schemes, we know that the court will serve justice to Sakaja. IEBC should stand firm in its grounds and maintain status quo.”
