Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed why he won’t leave any assets for his children to inherit.
Buhari insists that education is the best legacy he can leave for his children. He says education is their net worth.
According to Buhari, his decision was occasioned by the struggles he underwent during his life.
“I was locked up for more than three years. I told my children that one’s net worth is what is in their head, not what they have acquired in life. “They already know that I am not leaving anything for anyone to inherit. My greatest legacy to the children is to ensure they are properly educated.” Buhari said.
Buhari’s children have undertaken at least a single course in the United Kingdom’s institutions of higher learning.
Buhari’s sentiment elicited mixed reactions on social media. Some blamed Buhari for forsaking Nigerian children even with his perfect understanding of the importance of education.
Lydia Valch: “The reason they are schooling abroad while Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is on strike.”
Sunny Madukaibe: “And you couldn’t provide education for the children of the people you rule.”
Daniel Chidiaka: “A good man leaves an inheritance for his grandchildren”
Ibrahim Salami: “He is good man as person but not a good leader. He does not have leadership vibes in him. Not all good people make good leaders.”
J Kay Kuso Jenom: “Buhari! That one na between you and your children. E no concern me. I am focused on when you will vacate Aso Rock Villa (the workplace and official residence of the President of Nigeria).
Nigerians will be voting for a new president on Saturday, 25 February 2023.
