As many people get employed in the current world, there is a need to have a corporate image for easy navigation in organisational activities and identification.
As one gets the corporate items in an organisation for easy identification and communication, the move might hide critical information and evidence one may need after leaving the organisation, especially official emails.
Social media users have urged professionals and those in the informal sector to always back up their communications from WhatsApp, SMSs, and corporate and personal emails.
The move, they say, will help reduce cases of missing evidence in case of a scandal as many organisations shut down all communication done earlier to destroy the evidence.
“Always back up your emails, some people delete conversations then ask you for evidence, after they have colluded with the ICT team to permanently clear your official email which you have no control over,” a social media user said adding that people should always put everything in writing.
“This is something they never teach you. And never use your corporate email as your personal, in case of anything believe me you will end up losing all the data shared via email,” John Mwangi added.
They also advised on the importance of always writing emails if one wants to handle official matters for future reference.
Jean Pierra said, “if you work in a place where you think you need to back up, your emails are evidence because someone might do you funny stuff, especially when you are in a toxic workplace. I once worked for an organisation where we would print the emails just in case something fishy pops up.”
Another user happily said, “I worked at a place where even the director’s word of mouth was assurance that you could proceed with whatever he said, no emails and no evidence because we knew he would never do you dirty. High level of trust. It was a great pleasure working there.”
“Trust no one, I had a client who had given me an email in their domain to use as a consultant. They defaulted on payments. I used to send reminders using their very email and gave a notice to sue the client. They deleted all the emails,” Doktari Optimist added.
