Prof. Lumumba emphasizes the importance of young people joining politics not solely for personal gain or to acquire material wealth but with the aim to achieve unity and eliminate the divisions that hinder Africa’s progress.
“This shift in mindset signifies a collective desire to transform the political landscape and create a more inclusive and prosperous future for the continent,” Prof Lumumba said.

He highlights the significance of intra-African trade in creating job opportunities, particularly in comparison to China, stressing the need for politicians to prioritize policies that foster trade within Africa, harnessing its vast resources and potential.
Prof. Lumumba emphasizes the need for leaders to listen to the voices of the youth, understand their challenges, and actively engage them in the decision-making process, “by doing so, politicians can bridge the gap between generations, foster a sense of ownership and participation, and ensure a more inclusive political system.”
“There is an emergence of a new wave of young Africans who are determined to make a difference. They are no longer passive participants but active agents of change, working towards eliminating the divisions that have hindered Africa’s progress for far too long,” he observed.
