There has been an increased rate of cesarean section (CS) procedures due to changed risk profiles for expectant mothers and fetuses, as well as maternal requests although it emerges that there is a need for more education.
This, however, comes with several risks and after-procedure effects and body changes that are often explained by mothers who have undergone the procedure.
Women Should Get Consent From Their Partners Before Getting Pregnant – Akothee
A medical doctor called Dr Daudi decided to engage social media users on questions related to pregnancies and giving birth, especially through CS. He was celebrating his 100th CS as the lead surgeon not counting the numerous others he has done as an assistant.
Lynn Landons asked, “I have two scars, I want two more kids, hope it’s doable (via IVF), or what’s the maximum scars doc?”

Another medical doctor, Dr Oriba Dan responded by saying “I did one (CS) with five previous scars. It was a difficult surgery, and the lower segment of the uterus was very thin and easily proved to rupture. A good outcome for the mother and baby. Having four children by CS is safe. You need an elective operation.”
Dr Daudi explained to Lynn that with every scar that one gets, there are increased risks of complications. Therefore, depending on the facility the recommended maximum can be between three and four. Not because one cannot deliver again but because of the increased risks that come with more scars.
Marriage is Work and Love is Action – Tim Ross
Tuitoek said his wife delivered through CS due to placenta previa. He went on to seek clarification if there is a chance for the condition to recur in a subsequent pregnancy and if there is a possibility for future vaginal deliveries.
“It depends on how long ago it was done and the expected fetal weight. However, vaginal birth following a CS poses several risks including but not limited to uterine rupture. Therefore, most patients with a previous scar end up delivering via CS,” Dr Daudi answered.

Dr Daudi also clarified that the public has been misled that doctors push mothers to do CS for financial gain. “A CS is a very delicate procedure that should only be done if absolutely indicated,” he reacted to a comment written by Africa Unite, which questioned why doctors push women to do CS unnecessarily.
He concluded by saying mothers should always engage qualified medics for the procedures to avoid being financially manipulated.
