Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan has come out furiously to condemn corruption in the form of inflated payment in the government insisting that people should stick to the contract they signed rather than changing it on the way.
She went on to warn that those who had received and pushed for dubious invoices have no spaces in her government.

She narrated a case of over estimation in government tenders and bids, saying a cargo plane was procured for $36 million before Covid, after Covid the price went up to $86 million with no substantiated reasons behind.
The president further lamented that the government procurement team could not query on such a big increase but felt happy to present it to the state coffers referring to that as stupidity.
“This has been happening in all government projects, engineering estimates have been hiked unnecessarily. I believe the increments started from within after some staff colluded with rogue contractors, they don’t deserve to be in government,” she said.
Peter Muema said, “Quite a good stance from the Tanzanian President. There is a crucial test one must pass and that is the test of honesty and integrity in public finance management which equals prudent resource allocation and management. This test appears so simple yet it’s a global brand, it remains after one’s death, it can place you in kingly posts you’ve never imagined.”
“Finally an African president who is ready to take on corruption head-on, unfortunately the cartels will fight back sooner or later. They are always stronger than our African governments,” Yonah Chitiavi wrote.
“I love this, if only all our leaders could adopt this style of leadership, we would be far by now, accountability and integrity all the way,” Mary Akatch added.
