The much-awaited game for the basketball lovers in Eldoret saw Platinum Eldonets triumph past a star-studded Equity Bumas in the national basketball league on Saturday, February 27, at the Uasin Gishu high school grounds.
Eldonets is one of the clubs based in Eldoret and has since come to rescue the talented young men and women who are in love with the game especially in Eldoret since they got promoted to the KBF league.

Platinum Eldonets are well known for falling big boys in the game after previously overpowering Ulinzi in their previous encounter. The encounter with Equity was taken with the seriousness it deserves since they were full of star players many of whom have played for the national team.
Equity was leading by 19-26 in the first quarter and 35-40 by the end of the second quarter only for the host to come back from the half-time break and showed their intent for their visitors with quick, successive shooting prowess leading to several three points that saw them end the quarter leading by 68-63.

The fourth quarter saw both sides focus on the defence as Equity was putting more pressure on the host team while defending carefully leaving Eldonets with no option rather play a defensive game too.
The two sides were neck to neck with one basket separating the teams for most of the entire fourth quarter. Equity was leading until the last seconds of the game when they conceded a foul giving Eldonets the opportunity to take the lead had they slotted the two free throws.
Eldonets never disappointed its supporters as they calmly slotted in all two baskets and emerged the winners of the day with a tight result of 78-77. James Owino scored 27 points, Brian Ongesa scored 16 points for the home side while Faheem Juma scored 26 points, and Victor Ochieng 16 points for Equity Bank.

The result left Equity technical bench and the entire team furious as they were claiming that the foul which was awarded against them was not fairly awarded by the match day officials.
On the other side, Eldonets and their supporters were over the moon for a great result from a tough opponent. Equity bank tactician David Maina applauded Eldonets for their good shooting, especially in the third quarter.
Equity had lost their previous encounter 52-49 to the University of Nairobi Terrorists prior to this match.
