According to a recent survey, Kenyans have been committing robbery more frequently than before. It is among the highest-committed crimes that have occurred in the nation during the past year.
Theft is the most common offence for which the public complains to the police, according to the economic survey of 2022. The data shows that 35.1% of offences recorded by the police were theft-related.

With the increased cases of theft in the country, Elijah Feed an information security enthusiast uses open-source intelligence-gathering skills to identify thieves. He says one needs basic intelligence-gathering skills to survive in the 21st Century.
“I saw a Facebook post by Karangu Muraya asking people to help identify a woman he had posted her picture of who had stolen his camera gear after pretending to be a customer. I thought why not put in my open source intelligence gathering skills to some small good use,” he wrote.

These are the steps he used to unveil the identity and were about the suspect.
Step 1: I downloaded the image shared
Step 2: Google the Image reverse search, and crop the face for accurate details.
Step 3: I followed her footprints and found that she goes by the name Nancy Chebet but her real name is Mary Wangechi.
Step 4: I scrutinized her Instagram followers and I found pictures of her and her son on Instagram.

After the steps he shared more details about the suspect, highlighting the same picture of the same accused woman on her Instagram page stories. Showing her following, followers and her whole family on her Instagram page and from that one can note where she lives and other details.
“For this one, I just used a phone and some basic point skills. Reverse image search using google: Facebook Graph API Facebook/Instagram password reset for email and phone number. With these, you can use maltego to connect other profiles and if need be social engineering,” he explained.
