Sexual harassment is the unwelcomed sexual advances or requests for sexual favours and comments, jokes, or other verbal or physical conduct that is of a sexual nature or directed at employees based on their sex.
Anittah Raey a Kenyan media personality says the biggest pandemic at workplaces is sexual harassment; there is no industry that is not affected by sexual harassment cases.

“Sexually transmitted Jobs are the worst at workplaces because the person might not be skilled or competent but because she/he had an intimate relationship with the boss and got the position they will end up frustrating people who are competent,” Raey added.

She added that no one is ready for the conversation because even most women have now endorsed it, pointing out that they would rather sleep their way up rather than work hard as other employees.
“This discussion starts with you and me. If everyone says no to wicked thoughts during employment, in the end, the position will still be filled and the bosses will realise that women have standards. Let’s make workplaces no funny business, just work go home,” Raey explained.

Section six of the Employment Act defines sexual harassment as where an employer or a representative of the employer or a co-worker:
Directly or indirectly requests an employee for sexual intercourse, sexual contact or any other form of sexual activity that contains an implied or express the following:
i) Promise preferential treatment in employment.
(ii) Threat of detrimental treatment in employment.
(iii) Threat about the present or future employment status of the employee.

Uses language whether written or spoken of a sexual nature, uses visual material of a sexual nature; or shows physical behaviour of a sexual nature which directly or indirectly subjects the employee to behaviour that is unwelcome or offensive to that employee and that by its nature has a detrimental effect on that employee’s employment, job performance, or job satisfaction.
