Kathleen Kurgat was on target in the 3rd minute of the match with a low shot from the right win to give Moi Girls the lead. The goal was enough to ensure that Moi Girls went for the halftime break with a lead.

Immediately the second half resumed it took only 4  minutes for  Kathleen Kurgat to score again after Ngeria Girls failed to clear the ball from the danger zone. She finally scored again in the  62nd minute with a loop over the goalkeeper to seal the win for the reigning Uasin Gishu champion in the girls category.

Angeline Ayor pulled the only goal for Ngeria Girls in the 42nd minute in a disappointing afternoon.

The finals had to be replayed after AIC Ndabarnach Secondary School was found guilty of fielding ineligible players during the competition. AIC Ndabarnach had won the finals 1-0 against Ngeria girls high school. Moi Girls had already filed an appeal against AIC Ndabarnach who won in post-match penalties in the semi-final just before the finals.

AIC Ndabarnach is already facing a 2-year ban after they were found guilty of fielding non-students commonly known as “mamuluki”, a  vice that is spoiling the spirit of the game in secondary school games.

Moi Girls led by Coach Robert Simiyu was full of praise for the girls attributing hard work and commitment from the girls for the win. He reiterated that they want to put in an improved performance to last year’s results where they finished third in the regional championship that was held in Nakuru.

Moi Girls joins Mwiruti secondary school boys football team and had secured a slot to represent  Uasin Gishu County in the upcoming regional championship. Mwiruti won 4-0 against their arch-rivals Wareng High School on 9th July 2023.
