Strict Parenting May Be Both Good and Bad But For Good

Having strict parents has really saved many people, especially teenagers a lot of things, however, some believe having strict parents is just teaching children to be liars and keeping off serious discussions with their parents.

Mitchelle Karoro explains that having strict parents saved her from many things including peer pressure. Her supporters however did not agree with her on the issue of strict parents.

Some say during the teenage stage many youngsters make a turn of no return by exploring their youth. Only those with strict parents managed to avoid the worst from happening, advising parents to train a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

“All it has done is turn me into a better liar, make me a people pleaser, sneakier, sacrifice what I want for the sake of other people, be socially awkward and seek validation from others,” Nicole Zimba explained.

Kara Boblaq disagreed saying it does nothing but create overly anxious, anti-social adults who are people pleasers, can’t stand confrontation and depend on antidepressants to cope with life.

Lorato Molema added, “I honestly don’t like strict parenting because once you get your freedom you will want to do everything your parents restrict you on. Freedom will cause problems for you because now you don’t have anybody to police you.”

“I grew up being scared of my dad because he was too strict and I wasn’t able to tell him important things because I feared being shouted at or getting whipped. As a result even today we’re not close. I can’t hold a conversation with him just because I don’t know what to say to him,” Akukho Mehliko Kulelizwe mentioned.

King Vegeta advised that being a parent is so complex, there’s no blueprint for parenthood because one may raise children whichever way but at the end of the day children are their own person.
